Cheetah Nightvision

More playing with color. This time I tried to go with a color palette on the complete opposite side of the spectrum than what you would first associate with this subject. Plus I didn't want to use the same color cues that we are comfortable with, so I made the sky green, the leaves blue, the ground almost black, etc. I like where its going, but I think it could be punched up a bit more. Maybe I just need to be more bold with my colors. I think I'll probably come back to this one.

I love how these non typical hues add mystery to the scene. My only complaint is the values of the bg pull me away from the character.

Thats an interesting effect. My idea was that the comparatively lighter background would pull the background closer, rather than having an open, distant background. More how we can’t see far at night. But the dark ground then fights this. Let me switch the color of the sky with the color of the ground to see what the effect is. I’ll add it to the post here soon.
