Digital Sculptures and Models

I sculpted this cartoon/caricature of myself to replace the old drawing one on the side of my blog there. I’m not sure how successful of a caricature it is since there isn’t much exaggeration going on there, but I do like the colors I’m getting for the skin tones and highlights/shadows and the shapes I was able to get in the lips and cheeks. My drawings and my digital sculpts are looking more and more alike.

Sculpted in Zbrush with fine tuning in Photoshop and the canvas texture is from Artrage.

Here is the time lapse video of my sculpting this.

I need a name for this character.  Any suggestions?  The idea, when I started, was to make a friend for the hillbilly/redneck guy I was making previously (see a couple of posts below).  But now he’s looking much more along the cute line, so I’m not sure where to take him in the end.

I’m also playing with the presentation a bit, adding in a more interesting backdrop behind the sculpt and giving the “clay” a more cartoony look to it.  Let me know how you like it.  Oh, and I hope you like Burl Ives…

Another time lapse video of me digitally sculpting a new character.  This one with a giant brain, but a tiny face.

The first of three cartoon woman busts I want to digitally sculpt in Zbrush. I’m trying to sculpt them in a very similar method to how I draw, which is based off the construction method most popularly seen in the Preston Blair cartooning books.  Here is the first woman, whom I’m calling Lucy.

I started a digital sculpture of a pirate in Zbrush this weekend. It’s still quite early on, but I’ll add updates as I go along.
